In our Western society, we are often conditioned to uphold a facade of personal dignity, confidence, and self-esteem. This conditioning can lead us to believe that if anything goes awry, there must be a scapegoat outside of ourselves to blame. We develop an immense personal ego, striving for universal adoration and distorting experiences to support this ideal. However, this pattern hampers our ability to be vulnerable, to accept risks such as rejection, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings.
